Android Phone As A Wi-Fi Hotspot
Did you know that you can share Internet connection, by turning your Android phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot ! If you need to connect your laptop to internet, than you can easily use your Android phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Laptop and other Wi-Fi capable devices can easily detect your phones Wi-Fi signal and connect to Internet.
This can be achieved very easily, just follow these simple steps, to use your android phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot.
- First Enable Data Connection on your phone. Do not enable Wi-Fi now.
- Go to Menu and click on Settings.
Under the Settings Menu, click on “More”
You will see the “Wireless & networks” option . Here click (Tap) on the option “Tethering & portable hotspot”
Once you do that you will get the “Tethering & portable hotspot” options. Here click (tap) on the “Wi-Fi hotspot” once to switch it on.
Your Android phone Wi-Fi hotspot is now ON. Wait for a few second, for your laptop or any other wi-fi enabled devices to detect this wi-fi signal. Once detected your laptop can connect and share Internet connection from you Android phone.
By default the name of the Wi-Fi hotspot will be your Phones name. If you want to give it a different name, long press on the “Wi-Fi hotspot” after you have enabled it. You will get several options as “Basic Settings”
Click (Tap) on the second option that says “Set up wi-fi hotspot”. You will get the set up Wi-Fi hotspot options.
Tap on the “Network SSID” to name your Wi-Fi hotspot to what ever you want.
Under “Security” you will get three options Open, WPA PSK, WPA2 PSK. Instead of open choose any of the other two, to make your Wi-Fi more secure. Under the “Password” you can secure your connection with a password. Anyone trying to access your Android Wi-Fi signal has to enter the password to gain access.
That it, you are done. Very easy to setup and use your Android phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Just remember you must have some data plan or you may incur a huge phone bill.
